What Kind of Company Is Crafted Hills Trying to Build?

I remember the company parties from my first construction employer. It was a small commercial builder with an office in Austin. They weren’t just about unwinding. They told you about the place. We’d gather at the owner’s house, catch a ballgame, or spend a night at the driving range. I started there because of the work, but those parties showed me what a company could be beyond the job.

It was family-oriented in a way I didn’t know was possible in a business. They offered education assistance, and because of them, I went to college. They believed in promoting from within; the man running the Austin office had started as a superintendent. They even helped him build his house. When the superintendent above me moved on, they gave me the shot to step up rather than hiring over my head. When COVID hit and they had to shut down the Austin office, it wasn’t anyone’s fault. I still talk to those guys, and I could have gone back. But I wanted to work on houses instead.

I measure Crafted Hills against what they were. I want us to be a place where the people working for us feel like they’re part of a family, where they can build their lives. Why does that matter to you as a homeowner? Because the crews on your job are treated with that same respect and loyalty. I’ve worked with the same subcontractors for about ten years because I’d rather build a place where people stay than a place they pass through. The work reflects that.

I’m trying to build the kind of company that treats its people like family, because those are the people who’ll treat your house like theirs. Tell us about your house, and we’ll come walk it with you, no pressure and no obligation. You can reach us through the website or at (512) 948-9802.
